Losa-H Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Losartan 50 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, resulting in vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that promotes diuresis by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, leading to decreased plasma volume and reduced peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides effective management of hypertension, improving blood pressure control in patients who do not respond adequately to monotherapy. Losa-H Tablet is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and may also be beneficial in reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal complications associated with elevated blood pressure. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to either component, anuria, or severe renal impairment. Caution is advised in patients with electrolyte imbalances, hepatic dysfunction, or a history of angioedema. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy.
