Listril 10 Tablet contains Lisinopril 10 mg, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor primarily indicated for the management of hypertension and heart failure. By inhibiting the ACE enzyme, Lisinopril reduces the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor, thereby promoting vasodilation and lowering blood pressure. This mechanism also decreases aldosterone secretion, reducing sodium and water retention, which helps alleviate cardiac workload in heart failure patients. Listril 10 is effective in reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and other cardiovascular complications in hypertensive patients. It is also used to improve survival following myocardial infarction and to treat diabetic nephropathy by protecting renal function. The usual dosage should be individualized based on patient response and clinical condition, with monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and serum potassium levels recommended during therapy. Common side effects may include cough, dizziness, headache, and hyperkalemia. Listril 10 is contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor therapy and in those with bilateral renal artery stenosis. Caution is advised in pregnancy, and it should be discontinued if pregnancy is detected due to potential fetal toxicity.
