Lipril-H Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Lisinopril 5mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg. Lisinopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, acts by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, resulting in vasodilation, reduced aldosterone secretion, and decreased blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, promotes sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, thereby reducing plasma volume and peripheral resistance. The synergistic effect of these agents provides effective management of hypertension, improving blood pressure control in patients inadequately responsive to monotherapy. Lipril-H is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and may also be used in patients with salt and fluid retention. It is contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor therapy, anuria, or hypersensitivity to sulfonamide-derived drugs. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, electrolyte imbalances, or diabetes mellitus. Common adverse effects include dizziness, hypotension, cough, and electrolyte disturbances such as hypokalemia or hyponatremia. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy to ensure safety and efficacy. Lipril-H should be administered as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
