Lipril AM Tablet contains a combination of Amlodipine 5mg and Lisinopril 5mg, formulated for the management of hypertension and related cardiovascular conditions. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, acts by inhibiting calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance. Lisinopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, decreases the formation of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation, decreased aldosterone secretion, and reduced blood pressure. The synergistic effect of these two agents effectively lowers blood pressure, thereby reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and other hypertensive complications. Lipril AM is indicated for patients who require combination therapy to achieve optimal blood pressure control when monotherapy is insufficient. It is contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor therapy, severe renal impairment, or hypersensitivity to any component. Caution is advised in patients with renal artery stenosis, electrolyte imbalances, or pregnancy. Common adverse effects include dizziness, headache, cough, and peripheral edema.
