Lipophage 120 Capsule

This medication is prescribed for overweight and obese patients (body mass index ≥30 kg/m² or ≥27 kg/m² with associated risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, or dyslipidemia) to improve weight loss and maintain long-term weight control. Clinical studies have demonstrated that Orlistat, when combined with lifestyle modification, significantly reduces body weight, improves lipid profiles, and decreases the risk of obesity-related comorbidities.

Lipophage 120 is administered orally, typically three times daily with each main meal containing fat. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as oily spotting, flatulence with discharge, and fecal urgency, which are generally mild and related to unabsorbed fat. Patients should adhere to a nutritionally balanced, reduced-fat diet to minimize side effects and ensure adequate intake of fat-soluble vitamins.

Caution is advised in patients with malabsorption syndromes or cholestasis.
