Labeson Tablet contains Labetalol 100 mg, a combined alpha- and beta-adrenergic blocker used primarily in the management of hypertension. Labetalol exerts its antihypertensive effect by blocking beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors, leading to decreased heart rate and myocardial contractility, as well as alpha-1 receptor blockade resulting in vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance.

This dual mechanism effectively lowers blood pressure without significantly compromising cardiac output or causing reflex tachycardia. Labeson is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, hypertensive emergencies, and in certain cases of hypertension associated with pregnancy, such as preeclampsia. The drug is administered orally, with dosage individualized based on patient response and clinical condition.
Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, nausea, and mild orthostatic hypotension. Caution is advised in patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bradycardia, or heart block due to potential adverse cardiac and respiratory effects. Labeson should be used under medical supervision, with regular monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate to optimize therapeutic outcomes and minimize risks.
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Labetalol or those with severe hepatic impairment.
