Kelvitel-AM Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg, designed to effectively manage hypertension. Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, resulting in vasodilation, reduced aldosterone secretion, and decreased blood pressure. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, promoting vasodilation and lowering peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic action of these agents provides enhanced blood pressure control compared to monotherapy, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal complications associated with hypertension. Kelvitel-AM is indicated for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy or who require combination therapy for optimal management. It is generally well tolerated, with common adverse effects including dizziness, peripheral edema, and fatigue.
