Jekar-CT 40 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40mg and Chlorthalidone 12.5mg. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which leads to decreased blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that promotes sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, contributing to a reduction in blood volume and peripheral resistance. The synergistic action of these two agents effectively manages hypertension, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. Jekar-CT 40 is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, particularly in patients who require combination therapy for optimal blood pressure control. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component, severe renal or hepatic impairment, anuria, or electrolyte imbalances such as hypokalemia or hyponatremia.
