Irovel H Tablet contains a combination of Irbesartan 150mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg, formulated for the management of hypertension. Irbesartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, leading to vasodilation and reduced secretion of aldosterone, thereby lowering blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that promotes the excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, contributing to decreased blood volume and further reduction in blood pressure. The combined action of these agents provides an effective antihypertensive effect, improving blood pressure control in patients inadequately managed with monotherapy. Irovel H is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and may reduce the risk of cardiovascular events associated with high blood pressure. It is generally well tolerated; however, monitoring of renal function, electrolytes, and blood pressure is recommended during therapy. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to either component, severe renal impairment, and anuria. Use in pregnancy is not advised due to potential fetal risk.
