By selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, Irbesartan inhibits vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to vasodilation and reduction in blood pressure.

This mechanism helps to prevent complications associated with high blood pressure such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and kidney damage. Irovel 150 is typically prescribed as a once-daily oral medication and may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents, including diuretics. It is well-tolerated with a favorable side effect profile; however, patients should be monitored for potential adverse effects such as hyperkalemia, hypotension, renal impairment, and rare hypersensitivity reactions.

It is contraindicated in pregnancy and should be used cautiously in patients with renal artery stenosis or severe hepatic impairment.
