Irbepex Tablet contains Irbesartan 150 mg, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist primarily indicated for the treatment of hypertension and diabetic nephropathy associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. By selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, Irbesartan promotes vasodilation, reduces aldosterone secretion, and decreases sodium and water retention, thereby effectively lowering blood pressure and reducing cardiac workload. Irbepex is beneficial in managing high blood pressure, helping to prevent strokes, myocardial infarctions, and kidney problems. It is also used to slow the progression of renal impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension. The tablet is generally well tolerated, with common adverse effects including dizziness, fatigue, and gastrointestinal disturbances. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Irbesartan or any tablet components, and caution is advised in patients with renal artery stenosis, severe hepatic impairment, or during pregnancy.
