Immutil Tablet contains Mycophenolate mofetil 500 mg, an immunosuppressive agent primarily used to prevent organ rejection in patients undergoing allogeneic renal, cardiac, or hepatic transplantation. Mycophenolate mofetil acts by selectively inhibiting inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, a key enzyme in the de novo synthesis of guanine nucleotides, thereby suppressing the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes which are critical in the immune response.

This mechanism reduces the likelihood of graft rejection and improves transplant survival rates. Immutil is typically administered as part of a combination immunosuppressive regimen, often alongside corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors such as cyclosporine or tacrolimus. The dosage and duration of treatment are individualized based on the type of transplant, patient response, and tolerance.
Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, leukopenia, anemia, and increased susceptibility to infections. Regular monitoring of blood counts and renal function is recommended during therapy. Immutil should be used with caution in patients with active infections or hematologic abnormalities. It is contraindicated in pregnancy due to the risk of fetal harm and requires effective contraception in women of childbearing potential.
