Hydrochlorothiazide acts by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the nephron, promoting increased excretion of sodium and water, thereby reducing plasma volume and peripheral vascular resistance. This mechanism contributes to its antihypertensive and diuretic effects. Hydrozide 25 is indicated for patients requiring effective blood pressure control or fluid volume reduction. The onset of diuretic action typically occurs within 2 hours, with peak effects around 4 hours and duration lasting up to 12 hours. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, electrolyte imbalances, or gout, as Hydrochlorothiazide may cause hypokalemia, hyponatremia, hyperuricemia, and hyperglycemia.
