Humatel-CT Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40mg and Chlorthalidone 12.5mg. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which results in vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that promotes sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, leading to decreased plasma volume and peripheral resistance. The synergistic action of these two agents effectively lowers blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. Humatel-CT is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, either as initial therapy or in patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component, anuria, or severe renal impairment. Caution is advised in patients with electrolyte imbalances, renal or hepatic dysfunction, and during pregnancy. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy.
