Holymet-XL 50 Tablet contains Metoprolol Succinate 47.5 mg, a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker primarily used in the management of cardiovascular conditions. It is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, and heart failure, as well as for the prevention of myocardial infarction and management of arrhythmias. Metoprolol Succinate works by selectively blocking beta-1 receptors in the heart, leading to a reduction in heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, thereby decreasing oxygen demand and lowering blood pressure.

The extended-release formulation of Holymet-XL 50 allows for once-daily dosing, ensuring stable plasma concentrations and improved patient compliance. It is contraindicated in patients with severe bradycardia, cardiogenic shock, decompensated heart failure, and certain conduction disorders. Caution is advised in patients with bronchospastic diseases, diabetes mellitus, and peripheral vascular disease.
Common adverse effects include fatigue, dizziness, hypotension, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Dose adjustment may be necessary in hepatic impairment. Holymet-XL 50 should be administered under medical supervision with regular monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, and clinical status. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided to prevent exacerbation of angina or precipitating myocardial infarction.
