Hipress 50 Tablet contains Atenolol 50mg, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker primarily used in the management of cardiovascular conditions. Atenolol acts by reducing heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, thereby decreasing blood pressure and myocardial oxygen demand. It is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, and for secondary prevention following myocardial infarction.

Hipress 50 is effective in controlling elevated blood pressure, reducing the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems. The medication is typically administered once daily, with dosage adjustments based on therapeutic response and patient tolerance. Atenolol is contraindicated in patients with severe bradycardia, cardiogenic shock, overt cardiac failure, and certain conduction disorders such as second- or third-degree atrioventricular block.
Caution is advised in patients with asthma, diabetes, or peripheral vascular disease. Common adverse effects may include fatigue, dizziness, cold extremities, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided due to the risk of exacerbation of angina or precipitating myocardial infarction. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, and renal function is recommended during therapy.
