HHTELM 40 Tablet contains Telmisartan 40 mg, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist primarily used in the management of hypertension. Telmisartan selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor found in many tissues, including vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, thereby inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion. This results in vasodilation, reduced peripheral resistance, and decreased blood pressure. HHTELM 40 is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension to lower the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. It may also be prescribed for patients with left ventricular hypertrophy or those at high cardiovascular risk who require blood pressure control. The tablet is administered orally, typically once daily, with or without food, and dosage adjustments should be based on clinical response and tolerability. Common adverse effects include dizziness, fatigue, and gastrointestinal disturbances, while serious side effects are rare but may include hypotension or renal impairment. Caution is advised in patients with renal or hepatic dysfunction. HHTELM 40 should not be used during pregnancy or in patients with known hypersensitivity to telmisartan.
