Hhmite-XL Cream contains Permethrin 5% w/w, a synthetic pyrethroid with potent insecticidal and acaricidal properties. It is primarily indicated for the topical treatment of scabies, a contagious skin infestation caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis. Permethrin acts by disrupting the sodium channel current in nerve cells of the parasite, leading to delayed repolarization, paralysis, and eventual death of the mites. Hhmite-XL Cream should be applied as a thin layer over the entire body from the neck down, including the interdigital spaces, soles, and under nails, and left on for 8 to 14 hours before washing off. Treatment is typically repeated after 7 to 14 days if symptoms persist or reinfestation is suspected. The cream is generally well tolerated; however, mild local reactions such as burning, stinging, itching, or erythema may occur. It is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to permethrin or any of the cream’s excipients. Caution is advised when applying to inflamed or broken skin. Hhmite-XL Cream is not recommended for use in infants under two months of age or during pregnancy unless clearly necessary. Proper hygiene measures and treatment of close contacts are essential to prevent reinfestation.
