Hexartan 20 Tablet contains Telmisartan 20 mg, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist primarily indicated for the management of hypertension. Telmisartan selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor found in various tissues such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, thereby inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion. This results in vasodilation, reduced peripheral vascular resistance, and ultimately lowering of blood pressure.

Hexartan 20 is effective as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents to achieve optimal blood pressure control. It is also beneficial in reducing the risk of cardiovascular morbidity in patients with risk factors such as left ventricular hypertrophy or type 2 diabetes with end-organ damage. The tablet is administered orally, usually once daily, with or without food, and dosage adjustments may be required based on patient response and clinical condition.

Telmisartan is generally well tolerated, with common adverse effects including dizziness, headache, and fatigue. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the drug, severe hepatic impairment, or during pregnancy due to potential fetal toxicity. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy with Hexartan 20 Tablet to ensure safety and efficacy.
