Goodsartan AM Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to decreased blood pressure. Amlodipine, a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, promoting vasodilation and reducing peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic action of these two agents provides effective blood pressure control in patients with essential hypertension, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal complications. Goodsartan AM is indicated for the treatment of hypertension in patients who require combination therapy for optimal blood pressure management. It may also be considered in patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy with either agent. The combination is generally well tolerated; common adverse effects include dizziness, peripheral edema, headache, and fatigue. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and it is contraindicated in pregnancy. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy to ensure safety and efficacy.
