Gloritel H40 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, promotes sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, contributing to decreased plasma volume and peripheral resistance. The synergistic action of these components effectively lowers blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. Gloritel H40 is indicated for patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy or those who require combination therapy for optimal blood pressure management. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to either component, anuria, or severe renal impairment. Common adverse effects may include dizziness, hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, and increased urination.
