Galvus Met 50mg/500mg Tablet is a combination oral medication containing Vildagliptin 50mg and Metformin 500mg, primarily prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vildagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that enhances the body's ability to regulate blood sugar by increasing insulin secretion and decreasing glucagon levels in response to meals. Metformin, a biguanide, works by reducing hepatic glucose production and improving insulin sensitivity, thereby helping to control blood glucose levels effectively. This combination is particularly beneficial for patients who have not achieved adequate glycemic control with Metformin alone.
