Enalapril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, acts by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation, reduced aldosterone secretion, and decreased blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, promotes diuresis by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, thereby reducing plasma volume and peripheral vascular resistance.
