This formulation is primarily used in the management of enteric infections such as typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, and other systemic infections where oral therapy is appropriate. Enteromycetin Suspension is suitable for pediatric and adult patients who require an effective oral antibiotic with good bioavailability. The dosage should be individualized based on the severity of infection, patient age, weight, and renal function, with careful adherence to prescribed regimens to minimize resistance development.
Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, hypersensitivity reactions, and rare but serious hematological effects such as aplastic anemia and bone marrow suppression; therefore, regular monitoring of blood counts is recommended during prolonged therapy. Enteromycetin Suspension should be used with caution in patients with pre-existing hematologic disorders or hepatic impairment.
