Etoricoxib exerts its therapeutic effect by selectively inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for inflammation and pain, while sparing COX-1, which helps maintain gastrointestinal mucosal integrity. This selective action results in effective analgesia with a potentially lower risk of gastrointestinal adverse effects compared to non-selective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Zubcoxia is indicated for conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute gouty arthritis. It is also used for the relief of chronic musculoskeletal pain and postoperative dental pain.
