Metformin (850mg) + Glimepiride (1mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity, lowering blood glucose levels.
Glimepiride stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and enhances insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, facilitating glucose uptake and lowering blood sugar levels.
Medical applications
Zoryl MF 1 Tablet is a combination oral hypoglycemic agent containing Glimepiride 1 mg and Metformin 850 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea class drug, functions by stimulating pancreatic beta cells to increase insulin secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production and improving peripheral insulin sensitivity, enhancing glucose uptake by muscle tissues. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides effective glycemic control in patients inadequately managed by diet, exercise, and monotherapy. Zoryl MF 1 is particularly beneficial in patients with insulin resistance and those requiring dual-action therapy to achieve target blood sugar levels. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic impairment, and conditions predisposing to lactic acidosis. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, as well as hypoglycemia due to the sulfonylurea component. Regular monitoring of blood glucose, renal function, and liver enzymes is recommended during therapy. Dose adjustments should be individualized based on patient response and tolerability. Zoryl MF 1 Tablet should be used under medical supervision as part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan including diet and lifestyle modifications.
