Zorno Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Ofloxacin 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial and protozoal infections. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for DNA replication and transcription. Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, exerts its antimicrobial effect primarily against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis and causing cell death.

This synergistic combination is effective in managing mixed infections involving both aerobic and anaerobic pathogens, commonly seen in gastrointestinal, genitourinary, respiratory tract infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections. Zorno Tablet is indicated for conditions such as bacterial dysentery, amoebiasis, trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, and complicated urinary tract infections.
The medication should be used under medical supervision with appropriate dosage adjustments in renal impairment. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and hypersensitivity reactions. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones or nitroimidazoles, and it is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
