Vildagliptin (50mg) + Remogliflozin Etabonate (100mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Vildagliptin inhibits DPP-4, leading to increased levels of incretin hormones, which stimulate insulin secretion and decrease glucagon levels.
Remogliflozin Etabonate inhibits SGLT2, reducing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys and increasing urinary glucose excretion.
Medical applications
Zomelis SG Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Remogliflozin Etabonate 100 mg and Vildagliptin 50 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Remogliflozin Etabonate, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, promotes renal glucose excretion by inhibiting glucose reabsorption in the proximal renal tubules, thereby reducing plasma glucose levels. Vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances incretin hormone activity, leading to increased insulin secretion and decreased glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. The combination of these agents provides complementary mechanisms to improve glycemic control, addressing both fasting and postprandial hyperglycemia. Zomelis SG is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus inadequately controlled by either agent alone. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal impairment, or hypersensitivity to any component. Common adverse effects may include urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, headache, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Regular monitoring of renal function and glycemic parameters is recommended during therapy. Zomelis SG should be prescribed and used under medical supervision to optimize therapeutic outcomes and minimize risks.
