Dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, promotes renal glucose excretion, thereby reducing plasma glucose levels independently of insulin secretion. Vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances incretin hormone activity, leading to increased insulin release and decreased glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.
