Zkacin 500 Injection contains Amikacin sulfate equivalent to 500 mg of Amikacin, a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside antibiotic used primarily for the treatment of serious Gram-negative bacterial infections. It exhibits bactericidal activity by binding irreversibly to the 30S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis and leading to bacterial cell death. Zkacin 500 Injection is indicated for severe infections caused by susceptible strains, including septicemia, lower respiratory tract infections, complicated urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, bone and joint infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. It is particularly useful in cases where resistance to other aminoglycosides or antibiotics is suspected. The injection is administered intramuscularly or intravenously, with dosing adjusted based on the severity of infection, renal function, and patient response.
