Rabeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells, promoting mucosal healing and preventing NSAID-induced gastropathy. The sustained-release (SR) formulation ensures prolonged therapeutic plasma concentrations, enhancing patient compliance through once-daily dosing. Zix-R OD Capsule SR is indicated for the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and other musculoskeletal disorders requiring anti-inflammatory therapy, particularly in patients at risk of developing NSAID-associated gastric ulcers or dyspepsia.

Caution is advised in patients with hypersensitivity to NSAIDs or PPIs, hepatic or renal impairment, and cardiovascular disease.
