Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, exhibits activity against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, enhancing the antimicrobial spectrum. Itraconazole, a triazole antifungal agent, impedes fungal cell membrane synthesis by inhibiting ergosterol production, effectively treating dermatophytic and yeast infections. Clobetasol propionate, a potent corticosteroid, provides anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects, reducing erythema, swelling, and discomfort associated with inflammatory dermatoses.
This combination cream is indicated for dermatophytosis, candidiasis, mixed bacterial-fungal infections, and inflammatory dermatoses where secondary infection is present. Application should be limited to affected areas, avoiding prolonged use to minimize potential corticosteroid-related adverse effects such as skin atrophy. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to any component and viral or tubercular skin infections.
