Linezolid (600mg)
Active composition
Linezolid binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis and bacterial growth.
Medical applications
Zidolin 600 Tablet contains Linezolid 600 mg, an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic indicated for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive pathogens, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE). Linezolid exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, thereby preventing the formation of the functional 70S initiation complex. Zidolin 600 is primarily utilized in the management of complicated skin and soft tissue infections, nosocomial pneumonia, community-acquired pneumonia, and infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms. The recommended dosage for adults is 600 mg administered orally every 12 hours, with treatment duration tailored according to the severity and type of infection. Caution is advised in patients with a history of myelosuppression, as Linezolid may cause reversible bone marrow suppression, including thrombocytopenia, anemia, and leukopenia, especially when used beyond two weeks. Concomitant use with serotonergic agents should be avoided due to the risk of serotonin syndrome. Renal or hepatic impairment does not necessitate dosage adjustment, but close monitoring is recommended. Zidolin 600 should be used under strict medical supervision to ensure efficacy and minimize adverse effects.
