Albendazole (400mg)
Active composition
Albendazole inhibits tubulin polymerization in helminths, disrupting their metabolism and leading to their death.
Medical applications
Zentel Oral Suspension contains Albendazole 400 mg, a broad-spectrum anthelmintic agent effective against a variety of parasitic worm infestations. Albendazole acts by inhibiting the polymerization of parasite tubulin into microtubules, thereby disrupting essential cellular processes such as glucose uptake, leading to energy depletion and parasite death. Zentel Oral Suspension is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by nematodes, cestodes, and trematodes, including but not limited to ascariasis, hookworm infections, trichuriasis, strongyloidiasis, giardiasis, neurocysticercosis, and hydatid disease. The oral suspension formulation facilitates administration in pediatric and adult patients who may have difficulty swallowing tablets. Dosage and duration of therapy depend on the type and severity of infection and should be determined by a healthcare professional. Zentel is generally well tolerated; however, adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, as well as headache and dizziness. Liver function tests and blood counts should be monitored during prolonged therapy. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to Albendazole or benzimidazole derivatives and pregnancy, particularly during the first trimester. Zentel Oral Suspension should be used under medical supervision to ensure safe and effective treatment of parasitic infections.
