Zefrox-CV 325 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, while Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances efficacy by preventing enzymatic degradation of cefpodoxime by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.

This synergistic combination is effective against various gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens, including strains resistant to other beta-lactam antibiotics. Zefrox-CV 325 is indicated for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and other susceptible bacterial infections. The oral tablet formulation ensures convenient administration and optimal bioavailability.
Dosage and duration of therapy should be guided by the severity of infection, patient condition, and susceptibility profile of the causative organism. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort. Hypersensitivity reactions, though rare, necessitate immediate discontinuation of therapy. Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergy.
