Zaporil 25mg Tablet contains Clozapine, an atypical antipsychotic agent primarily indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia, particularly in patients who are resistant to or intolerant of other antipsychotic therapies. Clozapine exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission, thereby improving both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia.

Zaporil is also utilized in reducing the risk of recurrent suicidal behavior in patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. The recommended dosage should be individualized based on patient response and tolerability, with careful titration to minimize adverse effects. Due to the risk of agranulocytosis, regular monitoring of white blood cell counts and absolute neutrophil counts is mandatory throughout treatment.
Other potential side effects include sedation, hypersalivation, weight gain, orthostatic hypotension, and seizures at higher doses. Zaporil should be used cautiously in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, epilepsy, or hematological abnormalities. Abrupt discontinuation is not advised to prevent withdrawal symptoms and relapse. This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to clozapine or a history of clozapine-induced agranulocytosis or severe granulocytopenia.
