Zanocin DS Tablet contains Ofloxacin 400mg, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacterial infections. It functions by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes, essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell proliferation. Zanocin DS is indicated for the treatment of various infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria.

It is particularly useful in treating infections caused by both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. The tablet should be administered as prescribed by a healthcare professional, with dosage and duration tailored according to the severity and type of infection. Patients should complete the full course to prevent resistance development. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, as well as headache and dizziness.
Caution is advised in patients with a history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolones, and it is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ofloxacin or other quinolones.
