Zan-Penem Injection contains Meropenem 1000 mg, a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic indicated for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains of microorganisms. Meropenem exhibits potent bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis and death. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic pathogens, including multidrug-resistant strains.

Zan-Penem Injection is primarily utilized in the management of complicated intra-abdominal infections, bacterial meningitis, complicated skin and soft tissue infections, and complicated urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis. The drug is administered intravenously, allowing rapid systemic distribution and achieving therapeutic concentrations in various tissues and body fluids.
Dosage and duration of therapy should be guided by the severity of infection, renal function, and susceptibility patterns of the causative organisms. Zan-Penem Injection should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, rash, and transient elevations in liver enzymes.
Monitoring for potential superinfections and adjustment in renal impairment is recommended to optimize safety and efficacy.
