Yuvisef 100 Tablet DT contains Cefixime 100 mg, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. It functions by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death, thereby exerting a bactericidal effect. This formulation is indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, including respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhea.

The dispersible tablet form allows for ease of administration, particularly beneficial for patients who have difficulty swallowing conventional tablets. Yuvisef 100 Tablet DT is absorbed well orally, with peak plasma concentrations typically achieved within 2 to 6 hours post-administration. It is generally well-tolerated; however, potential adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and hypersensitivity reactions including rash and pruritus.
Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergy. Dosage adjustments may be necessary in cases of renal impairment. As with all antibiotics, it is essential to complete the prescribed course to prevent the development of resistance.
