Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, provides potent antiprotozoal and antibacterial effects, particularly against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, through disruption of DNA synthesis. Racecadotril acts as an enkephalinase inhibitor, reducing intestinal hypersecretion and thereby decreasing stool output without affecting intestinal motility. This combination is indicated for the treatment of acute infectious diarrhea, including bacterial and protozoal etiologies, accompanied by excessive fluid loss.
