Cefpodoxime Proxetil (200mg) + Clavulanic Acid (125mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Cefpodoxime Proxetil inhibits the transpeptidation enzyme involved in bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis.
Medical applications
Yuvidox-CV Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefpodoxime by preventing the degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase producing bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity against resistant strains. Yuvidox-CV is indicated for the management of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and other susceptible bacterial infections. The combination is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens, including beta-lactamase producing strains. It is administered orally, with dosage and duration tailored according to the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins. Yuvidox-CV should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate use and to minimize the risk of resistance development.
