Xibmed 120 Tablet contains Etoricoxib 120 mg, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor used primarily for the management of pain and inflammation associated with various musculoskeletal and inflammatory conditions. Etoricoxib exerts its therapeutic effects by selectively inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for inflammation, pain, and fever, while minimizing gastrointestinal side effects commonly seen with non-selective NSAIDs. Xibmed 120 is indicated for the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute gouty arthritis, as well as for the relief of chronic musculoskeletal pain and postoperative pain. The recommended dosage should be individualized based on the patient’s condition and response to therapy, with caution advised in patients with cardiovascular risk factors, renal impairment, or hepatic dysfunction. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Etoricoxib or other NSAIDs, active peptic ulceration, or severe heart failure. Common adverse effects may include headache, dizziness, hypertension, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Regular monitoring of renal and hepatic function is recommended during prolonged therapy.
