Insulin Glargine (100IU/ml)
Active composition
Insulin Glargine mimics the action of natural insulin, facilitating glucose uptake by cells and inhibiting hepatic glucose production.
Medical applications
Xglar Injection contains Insulin Glargine (100 IU/ml), a long-acting basal insulin analog used for the management of diabetes mellitus in adults, adolescents, and children requiring insulin therapy. Insulin Glargine provides a steady and prolonged glucose-lowering effect, mimicking the body’s natural basal insulin secretion, thereby helping to maintain stable blood glucose levels over a 24-hour period with minimal peak activity. It is indicated for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus and type 2 diabetes mellitus when oral antidiabetic agents alone do not provide adequate glycemic control. Xglar Injection is administered subcutaneously once daily, at any time of the day, but preferably at the same time each day to ensure consistent plasma insulin levels. Dosage should be individualized based on patient needs, blood glucose monitoring, and glycemic targets. Careful titration is essential to minimize the risk of hypoglycemia, the most common adverse effect associated with insulin therapy. Patients should be educated on proper injection technique, storage conditions, and recognition of hypoglycemia symptoms. Xglar Injection should not be mixed with other insulins or diluted. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to insulin glargine or any of its excipients. Regular monitoring of blood glucose and periodic assessment of glycemic control are recommended during treatment.
