Empagliflozin (10mg)
Active composition
Empagliflozin inhibits the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) in the renal proximal tubules, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion.
Medical applications
Xenia 10 Tablet contains Empagliflozin 10 mg, an oral antihyperglycemic agent belonging to the class of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. It is primarily indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control as an adjunct to diet and exercise. Empagliflozin acts by inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. Xenia 10 is effective in reducing both fasting and postprandial blood glucose concentrations and has been shown to contribute to weight reduction and modest blood pressure lowering effects. It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, including metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. Clinical trials have demonstrated that Empagliflozin also offers cardiovascular benefits, including reduced risk of cardiovascular death in patients with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. Common adverse effects include urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, and increased urination. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal impairment, or hypersensitivity to the drug. Regular monitoring of renal function and blood glucose levels is recommended during therapy with Xenia 10 Tablet.
