Wemdazole Injection contains Metronidazole at a concentration of 5 mg/ml and is indicated for the treatment of various anaerobic bacterial and protozoal infections. Metronidazole is a nitroimidazole antibiotic with potent activity against obligate anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoa, exerting its effect by disrupting DNA synthesis and causing cell death. Wemdazole Injection is commonly used in clinical settings for the management of infections such as bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, amoebiasis, giardiasis, and anaerobic intra-abdominal infections, including abscesses.

It is also employed as part of combination therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication. The parenteral formulation allows for rapid systemic absorption and is particularly useful in patients who are unable to tolerate oral administration or require immediate therapeutic levels. Dosage and duration of therapy should be tailored according to the severity and type of infection, patient weight, and renal and hepatic function.
Caution is advised in patients with hypersensitivity to nitroimidazoles, and potential side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, metallic taste, and central nervous system effects such as dizziness or seizures in rare cases. Wemdazole Injection should be used under strict medical supervision to ensure efficacy and minimize adverse reactions.
