Dapagliflozin (10mg) + Sitagliptin (100mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Sitagliptin inhibits DPP-4, increasing incretin levels, which stimulate insulin release and reduce glucagon secretion.
Medical applications
WE-Sita D Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Dapagliflozin 10 mg and Sitagliptin 100 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, reduces renal glucose reabsorption, promoting glycosuria and thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances incretin hormone activity, resulting in increased insulin secretion and decreased glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. The synergistic action of these agents improves glycemic control by targeting complementary pathways involved in glucose homeostasis. WE-Sita D Tablet is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults inadequately controlled on monotherapy or combination therapy. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, and severe renal impairment. Common adverse effects include urinary tract infections, nasopharyngitis, and hypoglycemia, especially when used with insulin or insulin secretagogues. Regular monitoring of renal function, blood glucose, and signs of volume depletion is recommended during therapy. Dose adjustments may be necessary in renal impairment. WE-Sita D Tablet should be used under medical supervision with appropriate lifestyle modifications for optimal therapeutic outcomes.
