It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell division and growth. This medication is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria.
