It contains Chlorpheniramine Maleate (0.01% w/v), an antihistamine that effectively reduces histamine-induced allergic symptoms such as itching and redness. Naphazoline (0.056% w/v) acts as a vasoconstrictor, constricting dilated blood vessels in the conjunctiva to alleviate redness and swelling.

Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate (0.12% w/v) serves as an astringent and mild antiseptic, promoting ocular comfort and preventing secondary infections. Boric Acid (1.25% w/v) functions as a buffering agent and mild antiseptic, maintaining the pH balance and sterility of the formulation. Optihist Eye Drop is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic eye conditions including conjunctival hyperemia, itching, and watering.
It is suitable for adults and children, but should be used with caution in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma or hypersensitivity to any component. Administration involves instilling one or two drops into the affected eye(s) two to four times daily or as directed by a healthcare professional. Prolonged use is not recommended to avoid rebound redness or potential ocular side effects.
