Omega Nor-TZ Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Norfloxacin 400 mg and Tinidazole 600 mg, indicated for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial and protozoal infections. Norfloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing DNA replication and transcription.

Tinidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis. This synergistic combination is particularly useful in managing urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections including amoebiasis, giardiasis, and mixed infections involving both aerobic and anaerobic pathogens. Omega Nor-TZ is prescribed based on susceptibility testing and clinical diagnosis to ensure optimal efficacy and minimize resistance development.
