Olife-M Oral Suspension is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Ofloxacin 100 mg and Metronidazole 200 mg per 5 ml, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial and protozoal infections. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for DNA replication and transcription, thereby preventing bacterial cell division. Metronidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, exerts its antimicrobial effect primarily against anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoa by causing DNA strand breakage and inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis. This synergistic combination is effective in managing mixed infections involving both aerobic and anaerobic organisms, including respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, genitourinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and dental infections. Olife-M Oral Suspension is particularly useful in pediatric and adult patients who require oral antibiotic therapy but have difficulty swallowing tablets. The dosage and duration of treatment should be determined by the severity and type of infection, and therapy should be guided by susceptibility testing when possible.
